Code of Conduct for admins and players

Purple Frog Administrators (admins) are community volunteers that wish to contribute to Purple Frogs continued development, enjoyability, and integrity. Admin applications are periodically released to the community as a whole. Existing Purple Frog Staff and the Owner(s) of Purple Frog select new Admins based on these applications, as well as previous interactions with applicants. Administrators are granted extended privileges within Purple Frog and are expected to follow this Code of Conduct to ensure everyone is treated fairly with respect and courtesy. Admins are not considered employees, agents, or independent contractors of Purple Frog, but rather are community leaders that help to curate and govern the community. All Administrators are expected to adhere to the following Admin Code of Conduct which sets the baseline standards for maintaining a functional, fair, and enjoyable community atmosphere.

Activity

Administration requires frequent interaction to ensure that chat/community channels and community behavior are within the Rules of Behavior; as such, Admin are expected to log into Purple Frog teamspeak bi-weekly

1. Temporary Absences – Any temporary absence of one week or more should be communicated to the other Admins. In particular, Admins that serve on the same board(s) as the absent Admin should be contacted to ensure those board(s) have sufficient coverage for board duties. If all other board members will be absent at the same time, the Advisory board should be notified.

2. Extended Absences – Any Administrator that plans to be absent for an extended period of time (~90 days) should contact the Advisory board and Purple Frog Owners. A replacement may be solicited or appointed. Admin privileges may be reinstated following the absence, pending individual circumstances.

3. Unaccounted Absences – Any Administrator that does not maintain regular contact with their fellow board members or contribute to board decisions for an extended period of time may result in that Administrator being removed or replaced. Admin privileges may be reinstated following the absence, pending individual circumstances.

Admin Cooperation

1. Decisions which may affect many players, set approval precedent, alter Purple Frog, or give any one player or group of players a specific benefit should not be made by a single administrator, and shall be agreed upon by vote of the appropriate board.

1.a) If no other board members respond to requests for opinions or votes for a period of 30 days, an Advisory Board Administrator (PF Admin and above) may make a –temporary- ruling on the matter until more Admins may be instituted to cast a full vote. If no Advisory Board Admins are available, Purple Frog shareholders should be contacted for discussion of the need for additional Admins.

2. While different Admins have specific tasks they are assigned, all Admins are deserving of common courtesy and respectful communication. Ideas expressed by fellow admin should be given due consideration; decisions passed by majority vote of the board which governs such topics will be considered final

2.A) Though board decisions are final among the admin staff, Purple Frog owners have ultimate decision-making powers on all matters and may veto, reverse, alter, or institute any policies/decisions Player Interaction

1. All attempts should be made to treat players with courtesy and respect. Those players who are in violation of the COD may receive disciplinary actions equitable with the severity of their violation.

2. Admin should attempt to maintain a positive game environment and ensure that communication, (both between admin and players, and among the players), is relatively peaceful and respectful. Any Administrator or Player who habitually works toward creating a hostile environment is subject to removal from the Admin position, or the server respectively.

3. Any information obtained by Admins due to their Admin position shall be kept confidential and never shared outside of the Admin community. This includes player information, correspondence, and internal Admin discussions. Player safety and well-being is of utmost importance, and Admin will diligently manage reports of threats or harassment as well as other health threatening activities.

 

User Naming Rules

Character names should reflect the genre of the game - original, sci-fi, fantasy-oriented names are desired.

All User Names are subject to Admin approval, as well as public opinion. User names that appear to break one of the following rules may still be allowed, as it is up to Admin discretion.

• The following types of names are unacceptable: Vile, profane, rude, or racist names including common swear words, anatomical references, racial slurs, and homonyms of these words. Combinations of words that produce an offensive result (e.g. SluttyMcHoBag, Domenow).
• Names of religious, occult, or significant historic origin (e.g. Churchill, Satan, Muhammad).
• Copyrighted or trademarked names of products, characters, services, or concepts (e.g. Toshiba, Dell, Reebok).
• Names based on political or religious ideas.
• The names of senior Purple Frog team members or employees (e.g. Spoon, Ro’Monger)
• Names containing PROPER titles within them, such as, but not limited to: The, An, God, Gawd, Lord, Lady. It is possible that a name containing one of these titles, not in a capitalized form, may be allowed.
• Names that contain sentences (Ikillorcs), phrases (Ontop), or two or more words that do not form descriptive compound words (Petcarbob, Diediedie and Tablechair). Descriptive compound words are allowed (e.g. Treehugger, Giantslayer). Descriptive compound words (each separate part of the word and the entire word) must otherwise adhere to all other naming rules. Descriptive compound words that are deemed nonsensical or 'silly' by the admin will not be permitted and will be reviewed on a case by case basis. When in doubt, check first.
• Nonsense names (e.g. Aaaa, Bbbblkjasd, Bjsldk) For all of the above, misspellings and alternative spellings of the word or words are also unacceptable.
• Note: Non-words like-- D, Da, De, Di, El, Z, Za, Ze, Zi, L, Le, La, Li are unacceptable in cases where the name contains a normal word, as they are references to "The" and implicate a title, in both cases (e.g. D`Kval is acceptable and D`Basher is not). TeamSpeak User is unacceptable as it makes admin searches more challenging. All names are subject to review by the admin, and if deemed inappropriate, for any reason, should be changed immediately. A 'grandfather' clause is in effect for older names. Repeated violations will result in a temporary or perm ban.

System or Game Server abuse

While representing purple frog. I will not exploit any in-game bugs, glitches or errors. There shall be no attempts to hack or modify any part of the system. I am expected to report any bugs, glitches or errors immediately upon finding them to a admin, keeping it confidential until the error can be fixed

I will notify the admin of anyone who is breaking any rule, failure to report a violation can result in the same punishment as the violator

Discord Guidelines. 

When you are in Discord, be aware that these are general guidelines.  Not every rules is written in stone to create a fun-free zone, but they are here to protect the integrity of our community and those that come here to do business or play.

1. Show respect for the members that are in the channel.

2. If you have been excessively drinking alcoholic beverages and are under the influence of said beverage (drunk), you should not get into Discord. If asked to leave due to a high level of intoxication, please do so without complaint.

3. While in Discord, excessive profanity is not acceptable including 18+. Reminding players that cursing every 5 seconds is not necessary. Try suggesting the "push to talk" option.

4. As much fun as it is to brag, refrain from over talking about your gaming or sexual exploits. Graphic or otherwise conversations about sexual preferences or activities creates a potential hostile or uncomfortable atmosphere that will not be tolerated. Take your conversation outside Discord.

5. There is to be no talk or discussion of illegal drugs of any type.  We are a community based around growth and helping one another.  Please speak to an admin in private if you have a problem relating to drugs.

6. There is to be no talk of software piracy, how to, where can I get.., etc. Purple Frog does not support the usage of cracked software in any format.
 

Let's follow the guidelines as given. When we as members violate one of the aforementioned guidelines, a warning, kick will be issued from Discord. If the violation continues, or a member just does not conform to what is expected from them, they will find themselves banned from Discord altogether.

 

Chat/Communication

• I will not abuse the in-game chat channels. I will use each in-game channel for its intended purpose. For example, I will not talk about out of game topics on the in-character channels, and I will not talk about completely unrelated things on the out of character channels. I will not spam any of the channels, and will use appropriate language.
• I will not post inflammatory comments about the game, Purple Frog Team, or players in the game. Constructive criticism is also acceptable, but only if a solution is suggested at the same time. I will not participate in graphic or sexual communications. Purple Frog is deemed to be loosely PG unless posted otherwise, however, not being video based, this category does not completely fit and is modified slightly. However, as a rough guideline it is generally sufficient. Excessive use of foul language that is not consistent with the environment and designed to hurt will be considered a disruption.
• I will not post material that disparages a race, sex, religion, political group, nationality, sexual orientation, or other comments that disparage others' beliefs, identities, or lifestyles.
• I will not post material that attacks or insults others in the community. Healthy discussions are fine; name-calling, harassment, or threats are not acceptable.
• I will not post obscenity, profanity, or vulgarity that is considered inappropriate for individuals over the age of 13 by general standards of decency.
• I will not post personally identifiable information about individuals - even if that information is my own.
• I will not defame the Purple Frog community or its team members.
• I will not advertise other services/websites without the express written permission of Purple Frog.
• I will not repeatedly post the same information in order to gain attention to it.
• I will not flood/spam communication channels.

 

Internships and general interaction

Purple Frog Global is committed to engaging interns in a professional and safe working environment. The Purple Frog team will not tolerate any form of harassment, intimidation or discrimination based on gender, race, age, national/ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or disability. This also applies to senior admins toward a junior position as well as admins toward the members of Purple Frog.  Purple Frog encourages interns to inform themselves of the sexual harassment policy procedure of the internship and to follow it, should one exist. Purple Frog asks interns to report any incident to an admin as soon as possible, allowing both Purple Frog and the internship site the opportunity to promptly respond. You have the right to expect professional conduct from everyone at work, including admins, peers and subordinates. Harassment is discriminatory behavior that a reasonable person would perceive as demeaning, aggressive, and/or threatening by a reasonable person. It is not just the actions of others; it is how these actions affect you personally, and affect your work performance, location, assignments and other areas. Behaviors that may constitute sexual harassment include (but are not limited to) the following: - Pressure for an intimate or sexual relationship - Sexual innuendos or persistent use of sexually suggestive or offensive language - Verbal abuse disguised as humor - Obscene photos - Offensive remarks about clothing, body parts, or activities - Making an educational or supervisor  decision/benefit based on submission to sexual conduct.

Legal

• I will not participate in any discussions deemed illegal particularly in the United States, United Kingdom, or Australia. This includes, but is not limited to, drug use, hacking, terrorism, and acquisition of unauthorized copyrighted material. I will not post images or links to anything deemed indecent, including, but not limited to, pornography, images/videos of deaths.

 

Administrators

• I will accept the decision of any staff member as final.
• I will accept any instruction from any Purple Frog Global Sever Admin.
• I will not claim Admins are abusing me. If I have a legitimate case, I will bring it to the attention of Purple Frog Global with a subject line of "Admin Abuse", stating clearly what my grievance is, which admin are involved, and what evidence backs up the claim. Admin abuse is taken very seriously; however, you should have significant evidence to prove abuse. "(Admin) punished me because I was being mouthy" is an example of a frivolous grievance.
• I will not play admin off each other. If I receive a punishment from a member of staff, I will not seek out another member of staff to complain about the punishment in an attempt to get it reduced. The only person who can release a player from punishment is the admin that enacted the punishment or a review board.
